BlackBerry OS is a
software platform created by Research in Motion (RIM) for its
BlackBerry smartphones. The operating system provides multitasking
and supports specialized input devices, particularly the trackpad
and touchscreen.
The BlackBerry platform is perhaps best known for its native
support for corporate email, through MIDP 2.0 which allows wireless
activation and synchronization with Microsoft Exchange, Lotus
Domino, or Novell GroupWise email, calendar, tasks, notes, and
contacts. The operating system supports WAP 1.2.
BlackBerry is focused on productivity and was originally
designed for business. However, it has been recently improved to
meet both business and personal needs.
With our rich experience in developing and delivering BlackBerry
applications, Softensity is an ideal partner for our clients'
BlackBerry application development needs.
Our developers have very deep knowledge of the BlackBerry Java Development Environment including a thorough
understanding of tools and APIs. We use the Java ME technology, with the power of RIM
BlackBerry JDE and other tools to provide mobile services such as
BlackBerry application development and other programming services
for mobile devices with the BlackBerry OS. We also leverage the
BlackBerry MDS Studio tool and the BlackBerry Plug-in for Microsoft
Visual Studio building visually rich and highly functional
interfaces.
The BlackBerry Java Plug-in for Eclipse allows us to simulate
applications using a range of BlackBerry Smartphone simulators or
actual equipment and supports multiple versions of the BlackBerry
OS. We also use the BlackBerry Web Plug-in for both Eclipse and
Microsoft Visual Studio that helps us to create and debug
BlackBerry widgets and web content using standard Internet
technologies and programming languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and AJAX. The BlackBerry Web Plug-in
includes the BlackBerry Widget Packager, a BlackBerry Smartphone
Simulator and the BlackBerry Email Simulator.
The BlackBerry Widget SDK gives our engineers access to
calendar, contacts, camera, maps, messaging, browsing, and file
location. The SDK provides support for touchscreen mobile
navigation and location-based services and permanent storage of
data through an integration with Google Gears and SQLite.
